NYSC- Its Meaning, Purpose and Processes
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was established in 1973 by the Nigerian government, after the end of the civil war. The scheme was created in order to rebuild and unite the country after years of conflict. And its primary purpose is to foster national unity and integration among young graduates from different parts of Nigeria. It’s three core programs are: NYSC Orientation Camp, Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) and Community Development Scheme (CDS). The mobilization program and one-year service exposes young Nigerian graduates to many core trainings. Avenues for development, exposure to organizations, opportunities for work are what service year offers active participants. The Journey of every Corp member into one-year service begins at the Orientation camp. This year, in addition to all the great opportunities the NYSC program presents, Bitmama will visit NYSC camp for a few days. And corps members will be sensitized on the possibilities they stand to gain when using Bitmama and Changera.
